"Length Variations" by Damien Bénéteau is a kinetic sculpture whose movement is based on the principle of light pendulums. A pendulum, composed of two opposing lights, swings between two hemispheres pierced at their center. The light rays, reflecting off two mirrors, illuminate the inside of the hemispheres as the pendulum passes vertically through the sculpture. This mechanical, kinetic, and optical device allows human perception to grasp, in a form of tangible evidence, the flow of time and the cyclical structure of the universe.
